Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI) Study Receives National Recognition
A study co-authored by AOS physician Dr. Coral Quiet was recently published in the journal Cancer, and highlighted by Susan G. Komen for the Cure in the March 2008 KomenLink. The study focused on the effectiveness of MammoSite(R) treatment for early stage breast cancer as an alternative to 6 weeks of external beam therapy. AOS physicians were the first in the state to provide MammoSite(R) brachytherapy treatments and have continued to participate in APBI studies in conjunction with the AOS Foundation.
