Burton L. Speiser, MD, is President of Arizona Oncology Services and Co-Director of the Gamma Knife Unit at Barrow Neurological Institute, St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center, and serves with the Skull Base Team for Stereotactic Radiosurgery.
Dr. Speiser's clinical interests include treatment of brain tumors, Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery with special interest in Acoustic Neuroma (ACN), Trigeminal Neuralgia (TGN), Glomus tumors and Hypothalamic Hamartomas, Radio-immunotherapy, Clinical Research, Pediatric Radiation Oncology and Endocrine Oncology.
Dr. Speiser is a past President of the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), for which he also served as Chair of the By-Laws Committee and Director at the School of Brachytherapy. Dr. Speiser is an editor of the following medical journals: International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics and Cardiovascular Radiation Medicine. He is an Editorial Reviewer for Cancer, Chest, Thorax, and Radiotherapy and Oncology and the Journal of Brachytherapy.
Dr. Speiser earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and served a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Rochester. He also earned a MS degree in Radiation Biology at the University of Rochester. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and the American College of Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Speiser was the Radiation Oncology Principal Investigator of the Novoste Beta Cath Trials, a Nationwide Multicenter Study of Radiation to Prevent Coronary Artery Restenosis.
